NEW: Rhode Island Attorney General promises “strong sanction” for the prosecutor who was arrested while bragging about how she’s “an AG.”
Special Assistant AG Devon Hogan Flanagan was arrested for trespassing and resisting arrest on August 14.
During an interview with a local radio station, Attorney General Peter F. Neronha says Flanagan will be facing a “strong sanction.”
“She’s put me in a bad position. She’s embarrassed herself, humiliated herself, treated the Newport Police Department horribly,” he said.
“I’ve got 110 lawyers, you know, she embarrassed all of them in a sense.”
“In the end, there will be a suspension without pay if I retain her. So she’s not going to go on as if nothing happened in terms of salary and that kind of thing.”
“So, there’ll be a strong sanction here, I just want to think it through.”
