Police chase high-speed driver in stolen vehicle in L.A. County

A driver in a stolen Infiniti sedan led officers on a high-speed chase through Los Angeles County Friday night.

The male suspect sped on surface streets and ignored traffic signals before entering the 105 Freeway and then the 110 Freeway.

He hit speeds of over 130 miles per hour while weaving dangerously among freeway traffic. He exited in the Lynwood area and quickly refueled his car at a gas station before driving away again. While refueling, he covered his face with a shirt to avoid being captured on camera.

At one point, LAPD stopped chasing the suspect on the ground due to safety concerns and continued tracking him from a helicopter.
As he entered the 710 Freeway, officers re-engaged and followed the vehicle closely behind. He exited in Monterey Park and drove for some time before heading onto the 10 Freeway.

Over an hour and a half later, he eventually abandoned the moving vehicle under a freeway overpass near Newton Street and South Alameda Street. The ditched vehicle crashed into a nearby a power pole at a gas station as several pedestrians looked on.
Officers arrived at the scene moments later. A perimeter was set up in the area as police continue searching for the suspect who remains on the run.
